Sample Blog 2 Post: Seismologist
There have been many questions about what should be put in the next blog entry assignment. I hope this example helps clear up any concerns. You need to have three paragraphs that are about your topic of choice, as it relates to your particular job. You also need to include at least 2 pictures in your post. This information is also posted on the whiteboard in the back of the classroom. If you will recall, I have referenced students to the white board when questions arise. Again, here is an example of what I expect to see. I hope you enjoy it!
Example:
There was an earthquake on October 15, 2013 in the Philippines. It was near the city of Catigban on the island of Bohol, Philippines. It was a magnitude 7.1 earthquake.
The Philippine Islands are located south of the Asian continent and north of the Australian continent on the western rim of the Pacific Ocean. The Islands sit on the Philippine Sea Plate which is surrounded by two large tectonic plates, Pacific and Eurasian, and a smaller tectonic plate called Sunda.
There is a lot of seismic activity in this area of the world because the tectonic plates mentioned above collide into one another and subduct into the earth's mantel. According to the USGS.gove website, this 7.1 magnitude earthquake had significant casualties and economic damage.

Oar Fish!
I saw on the news where a giant oarfish washed ashore in California. I hope one of our Oceanographers decides to post about this during this six week period! - Dr. Frankenstein
